About Sunderland Scuba Centre
Formed in 2005 by Steve and Val Gibson Sunderland Scuba Centre has gone from strength to strength, awarded Oceanics Silver Dealer Award in December 2005.
Sunderland Scuba Centre has continued to grow, teaching over 500 people to dive in 2005/6, opening an On-line Scuba Equipment shop not only for kit but also enabling people to book their diving courses on-line too.
Sunderland Scuba Centre were awarded Oceanics Gold Dealer Award and Dealer of the year Award for consistantly high standards of service in 2006 and Suunto awarded us Servicing status for all Suunto Computers on site.
In 2007 Sunderland Scuba Centre were Awarded 5 Star Status By PADI for consistantly high standards in teaching PADI Diving Courses and offering high standards of service and equipment to divers and non divers alike, in 2008 they were awarded IDC status which means Sunderland Scuba Centre is the only Dive Centre in Sunderland teaching students up to Instructor level and beyond.
In 2009 PADI invited Sunderland Scuba Centre to become one of their flagship Dive Centres and awarded us National Geographic status, this means we can teach the PADI National Geographic Open Water Course and Specialty enabling us to teach divers about the importance of diving skills, increasing diving buoyancy skills, envoirnmental awareness and much more. No one else in the North East of England offer this facility.
Sunderland Scuba Centres' staff are more than willing to offer all the information and take all the time required for people to learn to dive and purchase the right equipment at a very competitive level of price.
All of Sunderland Scuba Centres' Instructors, Assistant Instructors and Divemasters have up to date knowledge of dive equipment and all carry Police clearance for teaching children and vulnerable persons.
Sunderland Scuba Centre also carries full Public and Employer Liability Insurance meaning you can train with confidence and safety.
Sunderland Scuba Centre is a very well established 5 Star PADI IDC Dive centre and continues to grow and offer more services.

What Can You Expect
First and foremost, welcome, everyone that currently dives with Sunderland Scuba Centre was once a new face so we all know how it feels. If you are here because you want to take up diving as a hobby, want to continue your dive education or are just looking for a change you have certainly come to the right place.
Sunderland Scuba Centre’s staff promote an open door policy whereby you can ask anyone anything and if they can not directly answer your question there and then they know someone who can.
All of our staff carry enhanced disclosure CRB checks and are renewed and current PADI members.
And with Sunderland Scuba Centre being the only PADI 5 Star IDC Centre in the Sunderland area you can rest assured that whatever level you are at, Sunderland Scuba Centre are in a position to take you to where you want to be.
Sunderland Scuba Centre Pool Training Sessions
Here at Sunderland Scuba Centre we train 3 times a week making it much easier for you to train around a busy lifestyle.
Tuesday 6 - 8.30pm
Wednesday 6 - 8.30pm
Saturday 12.30 - 3.00pm
All you need to do is look ahead to the session or sessions you would like to participate in then call the shop to book yourself in, it is that easy.
Our Open Water Courses include Equipment Hire.

Sunderland Scuba Centre charter boats from the Tyne and from St Abbs & Seahouses on a regular basis along with several other locations over the dive season, should you wish to book onto a boat with Sunderland Scuba Centre we would love to have you with us.
All we ask is that you hold least an Advanced Open Water Diver qualification or are working towards an Advanced Open Water Diver qualification. In the interests of diver safety each diver must have a SMB, Reel and Torch and should have previous experience diving in the North Sea.
