About Us
Formed in August 2005 by Steve and Val Gibson Sunderland Scuba Centre started on a small scale, however we have gone from strength to strength, picking up various prestigious awards along the way.
Within the first 5 months of business we were awarded Oceanics Silver Dealer Award, and this turned out to be the first of many achievements.
We used these high standards as a benchmark in order to keep improving and developing within our industry, it did not take long for our reputation to start growing. In 2005/06 we taught over 500 people to dive, as well as opening our On-line Scuba Equipment shop, which enabled customers to not only buy the highest standard of equipment but also to book Diving Courses to further their knowledge.
Along the way we have continued to strengthen our bonds with suppliers of the highest standard diving equipment whilst also attracting new clients, and we are proud to say that we are an Authorised service agent and supplier for the following brands:

Sunderland Scuba Centre were awarded Oceanics Gold Dealer Award as well as Dealer of the year Award for consistantly high standards of service in 2006.
We continued this impressive form into the new year and 2007 brought another gold dealer award, and as we continuosly strive to improve we were delighted to collect the same Gold Dealer Award in 2008 for the third successive year.
As well as this, Suunto awarded us Servicing status for all Suunto Computers in 2007 enabling us to service most of the Suunto range on site.
As a sign of the quality of service we were offering Sunderland Scuba Centre were Awarded 5 Star Status By PADI for delivering consistantly high standards in teaching PADI Diving Courses to divers and non divers alike.
in 2008 we stepped up another level when we were awarded IDC status, meaning Sunderland Scuba Centre is the only Dive Centre in Sunderland teaching divers up to Instructor level and beyond.
To top it all off in 2009 Sunderland Scuba Centre was awarded the much sought after PADI National Geographic Dive Centre rating enabling not only the basic Open Water courses to be taught but stepping up to the National Geographic Diver qualifications, and we are very proud to be able to offer such a high standard of service.
At Sunderland Scuba Centre We are continuously looking to improve on all of our past successes and never rest on our laurels.
Presently we are working on establishing new relationships with suppliers to ensure we can continue to offer our customers the highest possible standards.
We have a great team who are more than happy to go out of their way to offer help and advice, taking all of the time needed in order for people to learn to dive and purchase the right equipment at a very competitive level of price.
We ensure that all of Sunderland Scuba Centre's Instructors and Divemasters have up to date knowledge of dive equipment, as well as having full Police clearance for teaching children and vulnerable persons, a list of their qualifications can be seen below.
Sunderland Scuba Centre also carries full Public and Employer Liability Insurance meaning you can train with confidence and safety.
We are Sunderlands friendliest, family orientated Dive Centre and we offer a fully stocked retail outlet with over 500 members in our Dive Club.
Come and learn to dive With fully qualified instructors (male & female) who are fully police checked in a Dive Centre that is PADI 5 star rated as well as a fully authorised National Geographic Dive Centre, no matter of your current ability on a course tailored to your needs.
And as long as they are over 8 years old, you can bring the kids as well!
Along with this we offer a full range of equipment to hire, there are boat charters weekly, and worldwide holidays arranged regularly to enable you to experience the trip of a lifetime.
