SUUNTO RELEASES DIVE COMPUTER-SUUNTO D9-IN TITANIUM

Creating a distinctive timepiece for keen divers, Suunto has released its flagship Suunto D9 in a brilliant titanium band. Excelling in business, travel and underwater exploration, the Suunto D9 Titanium is a full decompression dive computer with air integration and a digital compass.

A stylish update of the world's first all-in-one dive computer, the Suunto D9 Titanium displays all vital information with a turn of the wrist: dive time, depth, decompression requirements, direction and cylinder pressure. Everyday functions include dual time, calendar, alarm and stopwatch.

The Suunto D9 is the first unit to combine a dive computer and digital compass. The compass (which works equally well on land) shows the current bearing in degrees and steers the diver in the correct heading by means of arrows.

By using the Suunto D9's optional wireless transmitter, the diver can monitor tank pressure and air consumption from the wrist. Remaining tank pressure is displayed both numerically and graphically, and an estimate of the remaining air time is updated throughout the dive. This allows the diver to simultaneously monitor remaining air, depth and time. Real-time air consumption is also stored in memory.

Facilitating gas switching while diving, the Suunto D9 can be used with up to three different gas mixes containing 21-100% O2. The Suunto D9 incorporates the Suunto RGBM Deep Stop algorithm. By tracking both dissolved and free gas in the blood and tissue of divers, the algorithm address a number of diving circumstances outside the range of typical dissolved gas models. The Deep Stop function gives the diver two safety stop options: at depth with an iterative Deep Stop approach, or in a traditional shallow water range.

Equipped with an informative matrix screen, the Suunto D9 allows divers to review their dive profiles from boat, plane or cabana.

The Suunto D9 is a nominee for the German Design Award competition, which is considered the "prize of all prizes" by opinion leaders in the world of design. Suunto is also the official depth instrument of AIDA.

Founded in 1936 and celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Suunto is a leading designer and manufacturer of sports instruments for diving, mountaineering, training, hiking, skiing, sailing and golf. True to its roots, Suunto remains the world's largest compass manufacturer. Prized for their design, accuracy and dependability, Suunto sports instruments combine the aesthetics and functionality of watches with sport-specific computers that help athletes at all levels analyze and improve their performance. Headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, Suunto employs more than 500 people worldwide and distributes its products to nearly 60 countries. The company is a subsidiary of Helsinki-based Amer Sports Corporation.
